Meet Maddy, LPC
Founder of Soul Connection Counseling
Hi, I’m Maddy King
(She/Her)
I believe that some of the most important healing comes from being in relationship with others, and the therapeutic relationship is no different. The therapeutic relationship can create the fertile ground needed to explore one’s past, present and future with compassion and non-judgement.
I view each individual as already possessing the inner wisdom needed to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life. Often, this wisdom can be overshadowed by past experiences and stories that prevent us from fully trusting ourselves. It is my role as therapist to help my clients identify and unravel these stories by creating a safe, authentic and caring environment for self-exploration.
I am passionate about working with my clients to expand their toolbox of skills, so when challenging emotions or situations arise, they feel equipped and confident navigating them. In our sessions, you can expect an integrative and trauma-informed approach grounded in mindfulness, attachment theory, parts work, and evidence-based modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and EMDR. Above all, my intention is to offer a space that feels steady, caring, and genuinely connected.
I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for clients who are seeking an alternative way to explore their inner world. Please visit the KAP section of my website to learn more. In addition to individual and couples Ketamine work, I’m excited to also be co-facilitating 1-day Group Ketamine Intensives alongside my colleague, Jason Sienknecht.
Experience
My clinical experience includes working with individuals and couples navigating depression, anxiety, relational and attachment challenges, PTSD and C-PTSD, grief, chronic illness, and trauma. I also support clients struggling with negative thought or behavior patterns, eating disorders, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. In addition, I have a background in crisis work, including supporting survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence and individuals at risk of suicide.
More About Maddy:
I became a therapist because of my own mental health journey. I will always feel deep gratitude for the therapists who helped me find my footing throughout different seasons of my life.
After recovering from a long-term illness, I attended my first meditation retreat in 2017 with Daniel P. Brown. That experience helped me discover a sense of refuge within myself that I never thought was possible. Through mindfulness and meditation, I began to realize that while we cannot always control our thoughts, emotions or life circumstances, we can change the way we relate and respond to them. As someone who has struggled with anxiety, depression, rumination, and emotional regulation for much of my life, this was a deeply transformative realization.
I believe that learning how to stay present with ourselves, especially in moments of discomfort, uncertainty and vulnerability, is one of the foundations for deeper healing, stronger relationships and a more fulfilling life.
Outside of work, I enjoy gravel and mountain biking, trail running, spending time in nature, cooking and being with friends, family and my beloved dog, Audrey.
