Meet Maddy MA, LPC

Founder of Soul Connection Counseling

Hi, I’m Maddy King

(She/Her)

And I believe that some of the most important healing comes from being in relationship with others, and the therapeutic relationship is no different. The therapeutic relationship can create the fertile ground needed to explore one’s past, present and future with compassion and non-judgement.

I view each individual as already possessing the inner wisdom needed to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life. Often, this wisdom can be overshadowed by past experiences and stories that prevent us from fully trusting ourselves. It is my role as therapist to help my clients identify and unravel these stories by creating a safe, authentic and caring environment for self-exploration.

I am passionate about working with my clients to expand their toolbox of skills so that when difficult situations or emotions arise, they can feel confident in handling what life brings their way. I focus on my client’s strengths, what is going well in their life and how we can apply that to other areas of life that are creating hardship. Working with me, you can expect a mixture of mindfulness, attachment theory, parts work and evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and EMDR. I approach all of my sessions through a trauma-informed and strength-based lens.

I am now offering Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to clients who are looking for a different way to deepen and explore their inner world. Please visit the section of my website for KAP to learn more.

Experience

My therapeutic experience ranges from working with individuals and couples struggling with depression, anxiety, relational issues, emotional regulation, negative coping patterns, grief, eating disorders, self-harm, chronic illness and trauma. I also have a background in crisis work which includes working with survivor’s of domestic violence and intimate partner violence* and individuals at-risk to suicide.

More About Maddy:

I became a therapist because of my own mental health journey. I will always feel deep gratitude for the therapists that helped me find my footing throughout my life.

After recovering from a long-term illness I participated in my first meditation retreat in 2017 with Dr. Daniel P. Brown. This experience helped me discover a refuge within myself that I never thought was possible . Through mindfulness and meditation, I learned that I have a choice when it comes to letting my thoughts and emotions control me and how I respond to life’s circumstances. This was a life altering discovery as someone who has struggled with ruminating thoughts, anxiety, depression and emotional regulation the majority of my life. I believe that the ability to stay present through difficult situations and emotions is the key to experiencing deeper connections and living a more fulfilling life.

In my spare time, I enjoy riding my gravel and mountain bikes, training for endurance races, being in nature, listening to music, cooking and spending time my friends, family and beloved dog, Audrey.
